    Exchange Deployment Planning Services

    Description:

    Exchange Deployment Planning Services (EDPS) is a Packaged Service Benefit designed to help guide customers through the deployment planning stages of Exchange 2007 SP1 implementation. Packaged Services engagements are conducted by certified partners who share best practices, analyze the customer’s organizational requirements and help create comprehensive deployment and implementation plans. Partners are equipped and compensated by Microsoft for EDPS engagements.

    EDPS offers 3, 5, 10, and 15 day engagement types. The following table includes a short summary of what partners will offer to the customer during each engagement type.

    Offering Length Summary Description
    3-Day Discovery Workshop: presentation of Exchange Server 2007, technical presentations and Hands-On Labs, basic deployment planning session.
    5-Day Based on the 3-Day engagement. Adds depth to the covered topics and moves the customer towards a customized high-level deployment roadmap.
    10-Day Envisioning engagement, aiming at the generation of a high-level Vision/Scope document, including business and technical requirements, conceptual architecture. This offering does not include the 5-Day content.
    15-Day Combination of the 5-Day and the 10-Day engagements.

    What is Software Assurance and what are Software Assurance Benefits (SAB)?

    Microsoft® Software Assurance for Volume Licensing (SA) helps maximize your customers’ technology investments. When customers purchase Software Assurance, they gain access to a comprehensive set of benefits, which can include maintenance, technical support, deployment assistance, and training. The types and levels of benefits they receive vary depending on their licensing program, which products they purchase, how many licenses they have, and how much they spend.


    What are Packaged Services?

    Packaged Services, such as Exchange Deployment Planning Services (EDPS), is a Software Assurance benefit that offers customers pre-defined service engagements with qualified Microsoft Partners or Microsoft Consulting Services (MCS) through entitlements based upon specified Office Application Pool and Server Pool licenses. These benefits remove barriers to the adoption or upgrading of Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 by giving customers the services of an experienced partner who can guide the customer through planning Exchange Server deployments.


    Who is eligible for these benefits?

    Customers under Enterprise Agreement, Enterprise Agreement Subscription, Select SAM (Software Assurance Membership), and Open Value or Open Value Subscription (with SA) Enrollments are eligible to receive these benefits.
